THE RAYRAY WAY
ABOUT ME:
Writer/Editor
BA Media Communication (Journalism/Media Production)
I've always loved telling stories. I started out shooting soap operas on my parents’ old camcorder. I would craft overzealous plotlines about things that should’ve been off-limits to my prepubescent brain, but I knew shock could grab an audience and I was always trying to pull them in.
Studying film seemed like a natural progression. I completed a year at UTS then landed a job at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. I spent seven years learning the ins and outs of the film industry surrounded by cinematic heavyweights (my boss just happened to produce two of my favourite movies ‘Romeo + Juliet’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’).
During this time I found my voice, apparently, it was hiding between the keys of my keyboard far away from the silver screen. I finished my journalism degree then started blogging and discovered that writing came quite naturally to me.
These haphazard musings got me my dream job at HuffPost, Australia, as Associate Editor of the Blog. There, I fell in love with the power of opinion, and the power of punctuation thanks to an eagle-eyed boss.
In 2019, I decided to pack up my life and forge a career in the Big Apple. I'm currently working as a Digital Staff Writer at Robb Report, New York.
